In Memory Of Whitney Houston

When I heard the disturbing news that famous pop star Whitney Houston was dead at the age of 48 my whole outlook for the day quickly plummeted. I know most of you reading this would say why she is just a person like anyone else. However, this young woman was different her songs instilled a powerful message that anyone who listened to them could easily pick up. Her music on such emotional topics as love, the importance of caring for children, and many more for me have such a deep sentimental meaning.

As a former educator I guess the best song that I truly loved by Ms. Houston was "Children Are Our Future". I cannot tell you how many times when I hear that song that it just brings tears to my eyes recollecting images of the children I interacted with on a daily basis. Even now, years later since I retired I think about my little cherubs every day and how are they doing. Many are in high school now or possibly even college. Just listening to her music brings up such an overwhelming flood of emotions for me.

Sadly enough what makes this tragedy even worse is her dear daughter Bobbi Kristina who is only 18 and is now without a mother in her life. This is such an important time in life for a girl to have her mother as she finishes high school and goes and prepares for her senior prom. My heart truly goes out to this young woman. Today's news stated that Ms. Houston's daughter had been rushed to the hospital upon hearing of her mother's death. I can only imagine how this young woman must feel. I know I do not know these folks but it just touches me in a way that I cannot explain.

Ms. Houston though you are not with us here anymore we cherished your songs and you as a human being. May you know true peace and happiness as you go on to eternal happiness. For now, your sweet soul will hurt no more and all your days be filled with a never-ending joy.

As I write this to you, I am listening to several of Ms. Houston's songs on the Whitney Houston channel on Pandora. Her music along with all the artists that sing like her such as Celion Dion and Tina Turner are a motivator for me during my writing here. Well I know this was a bit preachy and maybe off my usual style of writing but I had to do something to honor my favorite singer of all time. Ms. Houston may you rest in peace and we will always remember you now and in the future.
